one last track

As expected, I’m down to this last track on my next album now. The way I see it, there are three solutions to figuring out what to do with this song…

First option: Replace the synth I was using before completely. I’d prefer this to be a last resort option, if the other two don’t get results. I really liked the original synth I used, but it shouldn’t be too hard to come up with something good to replace it with.

Second option: Figure out how I originally made the synth and recreate it. This is gonna be a pain and is the main reason why it put me off so long. I’ve already figured out which base synth preset I used, but I still haven’t figured out how to replicate the FX I used on it, and the synth is a little weird so I haven’t been able to figure out the melody, either (though I also haven’t tried very hard at that yet).

Third option: Isolate the original synth from the song, and use it like any other sample. I tried to give AI stem separation a shot and see if it could help me out here. It’s cool tech, but it didn’t quite do the trick. I tried to use subtractive synthesis too, and got better results. I’ve mostly isolated the synth I want, but it still has the snares on it for some reason. I also tried using stem separation on that, but it can’t tell the difference between distortion and the snares, so no luck.

I’ve given myself a little over a month to figure it out, though. I’m sure at least one of these will pan out.
