This is the song that, until a few weeks ago, had been giving me trouble for 20 years. The task that made me hesitate as long as I did to come off of hiatus. All because I forgot to save that damned synthline in the second half of the song, couldn’t figure out how to recreate it, couldn’t fully isolate the sample, and didn’t want to replace it because it was the part that really made the song for me.
In the end, I just sliced it out of the demo I recorded, used subtractive synthesis to isolate it as much as I could, and I was never able to get rid of the hihats from the sample. But I used some clever editing tricks to make it work anyway. And it’s finally… FINALLY done.
